JURASSIC WAR v1.10F - TEXT LANGUAGE SELECTOR
================================================

In the game, open MENU (F10), Option, then Advanced... (or press A while
Options is open). Choose Language and click Save. The new language applies
the next time you start the game. Cancel discards all staged settings.
Advanced is an in-game screen with mouse and keyboard controls. Alt+Enter
switches fullscreen while it is open; Escape returns to Options.

Advanced also contains "Show weapon and item stats" (off by default).
It also contains AI difficulty: Original AI (default), Modern Easy, Normal
and Hard. See AI-README.txt for when changes apply and how each AI works.
After saving, hover over your units' inventory/equipped items or the Armory
recipes to see weapon modifiers, shield reductions, consumable recovery,
relic effects, and carried food. This is a local display preference; it does
not change combat rules, saves, or multiplayer synchronization. Items whose
retail stat fields have no active effect are labelled accordingly.

You can also run "Choose Jurassic War Language.cmd" to use the startup selector.
Both menus share the language preference in JurassicWarWin11.ini.
Choose from the installed catalog:

  English
  Korean
  Danish
  Polish
  Spanish
  German
  French
  Chinese (Simplified)

The selection is saved in JurassicWarWin11.ini and applies the next time the
game starts. A one-launch override is also available:

  JurassicWarWin11.exe --language English
  JurassicWarWin11.exe --language Korean
  JurassicWarWin11.exe --language Danish
  JurassicWarWin11.exe --language Polish
  JurassicWarWin11.exe --language Spanish
  JurassicWarWin11.exe --language German
  JurassicWarWin11.exe --language French
  JurassicWarWin11.exe --language Chinese

This allows local clients to use different languages.

MULTIPLAYER SAFETY
------------------
Language packs replace presentation data only. They do not replace PWAR.EXE,
maps, gameplay data, music, sound, or video. Players using any catalog language
can therefore host, join, play co-op or PvP, save, and spectate together when
their original game content matches.

Every non-English pack has a LanguagePack.json manifest. The launcher checks
the exact file list, byte sizes, SHA-256 hashes, table structure, record counts,
and guarded English source strings before the game starts. Missing, modified,
malformed, or mismatched packs fail closed with an integrity message; English
remains built in and usable without a sidecar.

COVERAGE
--------
Korean retains its established presentation coverage, including campaign/help
art and campaign prose. Its compact integrated buttons have been re-centred so
normal, hover, and pressed states use a consistent padded label box.

Danish includes all 420 guarded original-engine strings, all 338 native
Windows/TCP/autosave/spectator strings, every campaign briefing and ending,
all three F1 help pages, and localized integrated menu, dialog, lobby, options,
sound, save/load, and in-game radial controls. Its legacy presentation text is
rasterized with a reviewed bold font for visibility.

Polish, Spanish, German, French, and Simplified Chinese include the same full
coverage as Danish: all engine/native strings, every campaign text, all F1 help
pages, and all integrated presentation controls.

Translated F1 pages now replace the English lettering within the original
artwork. The large covering text panel has been removed. Diagram labels such
as Menu, Sanctuary and Food are translated too. All six generated help packs
use reviewed page layouts and complete control descriptions. Korean continues
to use the original Korean help artwork.

Localized bitmap menus use antialiased lettering mapped to the original
game palette. Text cleanup blends repaired pixels into the surrounding stone
texture to reduce speckling. Original menu geometry and hit targets are kept.

The original bitmap engine font cannot reliably show the full Latin character
sets. Legacy in-game Spanish, German, French, Danish, and Polish text therefore
uses reviewed ASCII equivalents, while native Windows UI keeps full Unicode.
Simplified Chinese engine text uses the launcher's UTF-8 GDI text bridge and
Microsoft YaHei UI. Player-name conversion uses each pack's declared Windows
code page (1252, 1250, or 936).

Audio and videos intentionally remain unchanged. The old engine has no Windows
IME input path, so player names, save names, and live multiplayer chat retain
the original Latin-key input system. Product/platform terms (Jurassic War,
Windows, IP/TCP/COM) and compact HP/OP/DP/MP/VP stat codes remain unchanged.

Developer and translator instructions are in win11_port\LANGUAGE_PACKS.md.

Combat display (1.10Q)
Options > Advanced > Show combat damage and defence enables floating hit
damage and the target defence stat (DP). The selected unit also shows attack
(OP) and defence (DP) beside it. DP is the stat, not blocked damage. The
display is optional, off by default, and does not change combat. Rapid hits
on the same target are combined into one popup so numbers stay readable.

RUNTIME-ONLY PACKAGE NOTE

Markdown technical reports referenced in this text were intentionally omitted from this runtime-only package.
Those reports contain development evidence only; no omitted Markdown file is required to install, run, save, host, join, or spectate.
